Casa Argentaurum is a living archive of thoughts that have taken physical shape. The gallery was founded in 1988 by Eddy François and Caroline De Wolf, driven by their fascination with architecture expressed in small-scale objects. The collection found its origin in solid silver objects and jewellery by reknown architects such as Carlo Scarpa, Ettore Sottsass, Hans Hollein, and Richard Meier.
Over time, the gallery evolved into a vibrant space for creation and experimentation. From a close collaboration with Andrea Branzi emerged iconic collections such as Wood & Stones, Silver & Wood, and Silver & Gold. These limited series bring together natural elements and precious metals, merging them into poetic, distinctive works of art.
Casa Argentaurum continues to build a growing network of creative minds. Alongside pioneers like Branzi and Sottsass, Caroline actively fosters close collaborations with contemporary makers such as Wim Goes and Johanna Grawunder. Casa Argentaurum also engages in dialogue with other creative disciplines, for instance through exhibitions such as the presentation of Ann Demeulemeester’s jewellery. The list of artists and architects exhibiting here keeps expanding, ranging from established international names to emerging local talent.
Casa Argentaurum is a place where architects, designers, collectors and other art and design lovers meet. In this bright, transparent space Groot-Brittanniëlaan 66 in Ghent one still senses the original passion, and creativity is given every opportunity to further unfold.
